So Don Imus is at it again. I know that you’re probably all as shocked as I am. Who would’ve thought that a racist would make racist comments again? It’s especially troubling because of the severe punishment that he received last time. What happened again? He lost his job, got his contract paid out in full, and then got another contract after having six months to dodder around his ‘cancer ranch.’ Most people would’ve learned their lesson.
You may remember that the last time he referred to the women of the Rutgers basketball team as ‘nappy-headed hoes’. This time he attributed Pacman Jones’ six arrests since being drafted to his being African-American.
I’m beginning to think that Imus has made a deal with Al Sharpton. Imus will keep saying dumb shit and Sharpton will keep attacking him for it. Classic dog and pony show. Doesn’t that make a lot more sense than thinking that Imus is just the world’s largest fucking idiot?
Pacman Jones has been out speaking with the media. He’s like the bad kid who’s just happy that his sister finally did something wrong. It’s like “see mom, I may have set the cat on fire but Beatrice is pregnant.”
Imus’ latest punishment? Jones has said that Imus “will be in his prayers.” Good Christ! How depressing does that have to be? I’m in Pacman’s prayers? Oh man! I’m a fuckup. Didn’t he just shoot a guy? Didn’t he bash a stripper’s face into the stage because she picked up money that he’d thrown into the air too quickly? Clearly Imus is a bad guy, but Pacman’s prayers? You have to be in some rough shape to find your way into Pacman’s prayers. The man who has been arrested six times in the last few years feels the need to intercede with his creator on your behalf. Think about that shit. Amy Winehouse should be in Pacman’s prayers. Trust me, she’s going to need all the help she can get. I heard a rumor last week that she singed her eyebrows off trying to freebase a bible.

Although I enjoyed your writing, I’ll respectfully disagree with you on the latest Imus remark as classifying him as a racist.
Racism nowadays is everywhere, you sneeze on a person of a different minority its racism, you can thank Jesse “Always has an opinion about racism, even when he says racist things towards whites” Jackson.
Truth is, blacks do get targeted more, because well they create more crime, and I don’t blame the police for doing so. It’s not a matter or being black, its a product of enviroment and poor living in the citys. Don’t think I am labeling it to more of black’s either. There are whites/yellows/oranges/pinks, that come from the same education deprived system and create the same problems.
It’s just created more buzz, because “blacks” were slaves to the system and didn’t get their fair due. Now we give them everything, including television stations like BET. But I couldn’t have a WET(White entertainment station). So that’s racist towards my colors. It works both ways, and until justice of equality on BOTH ends is accepted it will never change.
Pacman is a thug. He gets targeted because he is black, and has been involved in crime. That’s the fact. It’s not going to change. I’ll pray for Adam Jones because he truly needs it.
What Imus said before about nappy headed ho’s, albeit was a loaded statement and a poor choice of words. If you listened to the context and not what the media showed you, he was comparing the team to being more ruthless and physical, as compared to Tennessee.
Racism isn’t clear cut anymore, its what people perceive as opinion. Just like when people read this, they will target it as a fact of hate, when simply its facts based on observations from working in the city. I have many colored friends, and respect everyone’s values. It’s just the rest of the world that needs to start accepting each other.
Sorry for the rant, I guess this story as of late really gets on my nerves.

Wouldn’t you think his prior experience in this area would leave Imus with a bit of… let us say “racial sensitivity”? If an (undeniably, indefensibly stupid) offhand comment had literally cost me my entire career and reputation, if I got a second chance after that I would never say the words “black” or “color” again. I’d get someone else to order my coffee. I’d start calling races “running contests.”
Maybe it’s senility.

I wholeheartedly agree with your statements on what he said, he should have learned from his mistakes the first time. But, look at the spin this way, what if he was hired, to keep his name in the news.
I would like to see the statistical breakdown of when he is normal compared to how many viewers he has when he goes off and says something stupid.
Maybe after that, we’ll see how sensitive media is to the fact that outlandishness produces numbers, and numbers produce money, through advertising.

After the Rutgers incident, this doesn’t suprise me at all…
Its a shame that he has to resort to doing to such things to get attention.
